Leo Mezie Surgery and Kidney Transplant
In 2016, Leo Mezie underwent a successful kidney transplant surgery in the United Kingdom.
While receiving treatment in a United Kingdom hospital, the actor thanked his fans, friends, family and colleagues for their support, in a YouTube video, which went viral.
“Hello people, this is your boy Leo Mezie, I want to use this medium to say thank you for your support, financially, thank you for your prayers, I just want to let you know that everything got across to I just want to let you know that everything got across to me.
“I want to also thank in a special way; my president, Ibinabo Fiberesima, Chioma Okoye my sister, Kele Akara my wonderful friend and brother, I want to thank Chijiro, I want to thank Ifeoma Okereke, these are the team that swore me to action immediately the news got broken. For nearly a year, Leo Mezie was misdiagnosed with malaria, typhoid, and pneumonia, and the treatments caused his kidneys to fail.
He had to scream for help when he couldn’t afford the cost of therapy, renal dialysis. His coworkers, supporters, and Apostle Johnson Suleman rallied to his aid, raising funds for his treatment and kidney transplant.
He was admitted to a London hospital and stayed there for several months before returning to Nigeria in November 2016.
Leo Mezie’s kidney problems resurfaced in 2019. He was admitted to a Lagos hospital.
According to sources, Leo Mezie breathed his final breath after recovering from a kidney transplant last Saturday.
He had been in and out of the hospital for a time, trying to get back on his feet, until complications led to his death over the weekend.
