Ayuba Wabba Biography – Ayuba Philibus Wabba (born 22 October 1968) is a Nigeria trade union leader. He is the leader and chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC). Ayuba Wabba was also elected President of the ITUC at its 4th World Congress in Copenhagen. He has held the office of National President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) since 2015. He is the first African President of the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC).

Ayuba Wabba Early Life
Ayuba Philibus Wabba was born in Biu, Borno state on the born 22 October 1968. He however attended various schools in different states of Nigeria.

Wabba went to Kawo High School L.E.A Primary School Kawo, Kaduna; Government Science Secondary School, Waka-Biu, Borno State; School of Health Technology, Maiduguri; Imo State University in Owerri, Imo State; Institute of Peace and Development, Israel; North American University, Houdigbe, Republic du Benin; Royal Institute of Public Administration, London; Wharton Business School U.S.A; National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, Plateau State. He was president of the National Union of Health Technology Students as a student.
Ayuba Wabba Trade Union Career
In the trade union movement, Ayuba has thirty years of experience. Following his election as State Secretary of the Medical and Health Workers’ Union of Borno State Council, he held his first trade union job.
Following a string of victories in his home state of Borno, he was elected National President of the Medical and Health Workers’ Union of Nigeria, gaining the confidence of workers across the country. Ayuba was elected National Treasurer of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in 2007, moving away from a sectoral orientation.
He is a member of the International Labour Organization’s Governing Body and has served on the boards of several public and private organizations, including the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, the National Health Insurance Scheme, the National Labor Advisory Council, the University of Nigeria Enugu Teaching Hospital, and the National Productivity Centre.
Ayuba has a Master in Public Health and is a Member of the National Institute (MNI) (MPH). He also holds the traditional titles of Fiwagboye of Orile-Ifo and Zanna Ma’alama of Borno Emirate, both of which are highly regarded.
