Brian Fitzpatrick Career

Since 2017, Republican Brian Kevin Fitzpatrick has represented Pennsylvania’s first congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives. Fitzpatrick was born in the United States on December 17, 1973.

In his first tenure, the district was given the number 8, and it covered all of Bucks County, which is located north of Philadelphia and is primarily a suburban county, as well as a small portion of Montgomery County.

He was elected in 2016 and assumed office on January 3, 2017. He was formerly an FBI agent. On November 6, 2018, he was re-elected to the 1st district, which had just been redrew.

Fitzpatrick served as a supervisory special agent for the FBI in California and as a Special Assistant United States Attorney in the past.

He oversaw the FBI’s program for enforcing election-related crimes and served as national supervisor for the division’s public corruption unit. He resided in Washington, D.C., Kyiv, Ukraine, and Mosul, Iraq, all while working for the FBI.

As part of Operation Iraqi Freedom, he was integrated with American Special Forces.

Fitzpatrick was the sole Republican to earn support from the anti-gun violence group established by former U.S. Representative Gabby Giffords, the Giffords Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence, in 2018. Fitzpatrick supported increased background checks and restrictions on the sale of assault weapons. He opposed a bill that would have mandated that states accept concealed carry licences from other states.

Fitzpatrick was one of eight Republicans who voted with the House majority to adopt the Bipartisan Background Checks Act of 2021 in March of that year.
