Caroline Ellison is the CEO of Alameda Research, which Sam Bankman-Fried founded. She holds a Mathematics degree from Stanford University. She worked as a junior trader for Jane Street, a quantitative trading firm, for 19 months after graduating.
She moved to Alameda Research in March 2018, where she will eventually become CEO in August 2022.
She is currently being investigated for the company’s multibillion-dollar collapse. She is also linked to rumors that she was Sam Bankman-Fried, the discredited founder of FTX, ex-girlfriend. Caroline Ellison is born in the United States to her parents, Glenn Ellison and Sara Fisher Ellison.

Caroline Ellison’s father is a Gregory K. Palm Professor of Economics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
He is also a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and the SAET. Before joining MIT, he was the Ford Career Development Associate Professor of Economics from 1994 to 1997.
According to his MIT website, his current research interests include game theory and industrial organization, both theoretical and practical.
From 1992 to 1994, he was an Assistant Professor of Economics at Harvard University and a Senior Associate at Charles River Associates.
He received his Ph.D. and M.Phil. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1992. In 1988, he received his bachelor’s degree in economics from Cambridge University.
In 1987, he graduated from Harvard College with honors in mathematics. Glenn has a number of publications and awards to his credit.
In 1987, he was awarded the Wister Prize in Mathematics.

Similarly, Sara Fisher Ellison, her mother, is a Senior Lecturer in the MIT Economics Department. She has spent the majority of her career at MIT, but she has also worked as a visiting scholar at a number of prestigious institutions.
Her research has focused on a variety of industrial organization issues, with a particular emphasis on e-commerce and the pharmaceutical industry.
She has conducted extensive research on a variety of pharmaceutical industry topics, including pharmaceutical pricing politics, demand for similar products, and pharmaceutical manufacturers’ strategic actions.
Sara oversees the DEDP MicroMasters and Masters programs as its faculty director. She currently serves on the editorial boards of three industrial organization journals, IJIO, JIE, and RIO.
She received her undergraduate degree from Purdue University before going on to earn graduate degrees from MIT and Cambridge University.
