On June 11, 1999, Havertz was born in Aachen, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany.
Havertz began playing football when he was four years old, when he joined amateur club Alemannia Mariadorf, where his grandpa, Richard, served as chairman. He was recruited by Bundesliga team Alemannia Aachen in 2009, but only stayed for a year in the club’s academy before joining Bayer Leverkusen at the age of 11.
