The patients who were protesting were not satisfied with the way the government was treating them as they accused the government of abandoning them. They also protested inadequate food and medical attention in the isolation centre where they’ve been kept.
A resident of the community, who spoke with popular news outlet, SaharaReporters, said,
“Yes, they have left the isolation center and are presently destroying people’s properties on the main highway.
“It’s so sad, what could have led these patients into protesting against the government? I think government is not being truthful.”
The Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) Gombe State has 96 confirmed cases of the virus.
