Obaseki Meets Buhari To Submit Election Bid Form Sidelines Oshiomole

Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State visited President Muhammadu Buhari in Abuja today with the aim of presenting his expression of interest form for his re-election bid on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The governor’s visit to Mr President is very strategic and important as it comes ahead of the upcoming governorship primary election of the All Progressives Congress (APC) which has been scheduled for this month. Former Governor Adams Oshiomole is believed by many not to endorse the second term bid of Obaseki following their numerous quarrels and exchange of words over the past few months increasing speculations that all is not well for the two political giants.

Governor Obaseki, did not mince words as he briefed State House correspondents on the purpose of the visit saying:

‘Even though President Buhari is a father, it will be wrong to assume or take things for granted so I have to formally inform him.’

The governor also continued his interview with state house correspondents where he stated that over 300,000 of the Edo indigenes had been screened for COVID-19 out of the 500,000 targets set by the Edo state government.

Recall that some days ago, a girl was raped and murdered in a church in Edo state, and speaking on this, Governor Obaseki vowed to ensure that the killers of the 100-level student of the University of Benin, Uwaila Omozuwa, are tracked and brought to justice, describing the crime as heinous. The rape saga which has now generated a lot of anger in the hearts and minds of Nigerians who condemned the act on social media demanding justice for the victim, Uwa. She was unfortunately raped inside a Redeemed Christian Church of God church in Edo state, she passed away following the injuries she sustained and her assailant has not been found yet. There is massive hunt and investigations already underway to determine the evil person who committed the heinous crime.
