Trump Becomes First US President To Attend an Anti-Abortion (Pro Life) Rally

The Republican party US President Donald J Trump joined hundreds of thousands of others who rallied around him in solidarity that abortion shouldn’t be practiced.

He addressed thousands of protesters at the March for Life very close to the US Capitol where his impeachment trial is currently ongoing in the Senate.

“We’re here for a very simple reason: to defend the right of every child born and unborn to fullfil their God-given potential.” He said amidst support from thousands of participants.

This march of life is rooted first in its first annual demonstration which began in 1974 – a year after the US Supreme Court legalised abortion in Roe v Wade.

However, no US president since George Washington has taken part in these Rallies though the second most powerful citizen Vice President Mike Pence took part becoming the first sitting vice-president to attend the rally in 2017.

Former Presidents George W Bush and Ronald Reagan, have however addressed the group remotely in the past.

With the November elections closely drawing near, voters who support limiting abortion are at a good position to root for Mr Trump, who is seeking their support at the polls again in the 2020 election.

The marchers in were also heard shouting “four more years” and “we love you”.

The main opposition Party, the Democrats are tilted towards abortion beliefs hence, this will definitely score some points for Trump following the upcoming elections
