ANIMAL SCIENCE AND PRODUCTION

O’level

Postgraduate Diploma (PGD)

The candidate must be a graduate of Nnamdi Azikiwe University or a recognized University with at least a Third-Class degree in or a minimum of lower Credit in the Higher National Diploma, HND, from a recognized Institution in Agriculturally oriented courses like Animal Production/Animal Sciences/Health, Wildlife/Fisheries, etc.

Master’s Degree (MSc)

The candidate must have a first degree in Animal Science with an FCGPA of not less than 2.50 from Nnamdi Azikiwe University or a recognized University

A candidate with a Postgraduate Diploma in Animal Science with an FCGPA of not less than 3.00 may also be admitted provided the University Matriculation requirements are satisfied

3 CROP SCIENCE AND HORTICULTURE

O’ level

5 O’ level credits to include English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry and Biology/Agricultural Science in not more than two sittings. Pass in Mathematics may be considered if the candidate has a credit in Physics or vice versa. The 5 credits must be obtained in not more than 2 sittings. The candidate must be a graduate of Nnamdi Azikiwe University or a recognized University with at least a Third Class degree in scale in Agriculturally oriented courses like Crop Science, Agronomy, Crop Production, Crop Protection, Plant Health Management, Horticulture, Soil Science, Agricultural Economics and Extension, Animal Science, Botany, etc. or a minimum of lower Credit in the Higher National Diploma, HND, from a recognized Institution in Agriculture, Crop Science or related enterprise.

Master’s Degree (MSc)

The candidate must have a first degree in Crop Science, Agronomy, Crop Production, Crop Protection, Plant Health Management, Horticulture or Soil Science with an FCGPA of not less than 2.5 from Nnamdi Azikiwe University or a recognized University

A candidate with a Postgraduate Diploma in Crop Science with an FCGPA of not less than 3.00 may also be admitted provided the University Matriculation requirements are satisfied

Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) Degree

A candidate who holds a master’s degree in Crop Science, Agronomy, Crop Production, Horticulture or any option in Crop Protection with an FCGPA not less than 3.50 on a 5 Point Scale or an average of 60%, from Nnamdi Azikiwe University or a recognized University may be

4 FISHERIES AND AQUACULTURE

O’level

Candidates must have credit passes in 5 O’level subjects to include English, Mathematics, Chemistry, and Biology/Agriculture Science and any other. Pass in Mathematics, may be considered if the candidate has a credit in Physics or vice versa. The 5credits must be obtained in not more than two sitting. The credit pass in Agricultural Science must be backed up at least with a pass in Biology.

Postgraduate Diploma (PGD)

The criteria for admission into the PGD Programme will be as follows:

Matriculation requirements of individual Universities including Mathematics and English Language. A candidate with at least 3^rd class degree in Fisheries and Aquaculture.

Minimum of HND lower Credit in fisheries and aquaculture or related disciplines from a recognized institution.

Master’s Degree (MSc)

Candidates seeking admission for Academic Master of Science Degree Programme in fisheries and aquaculture must have any of the following qualifications from recognized Institutions.

Bachelor’s Degree in Aquaculture or related disciplines with a minimum of 2.5 FCGPA on a 5-point scale HND lower Credit plus PGD a, in addition to satisfying University Matriculation requirements.

Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) Degree

Candidates seeking admission for Doctor of Philosophy in fisheries and aquaculture must have the following qualifications from recognized institution.

Academic Masters (M.Sc.) Degree in fisheries and aquaculture with a minimum FCGPA of 3.50 on 5 point scale or 60%in the overall result . He shall also fulfill any other entry requirements as specified by the Faculty Board of Agriculture of the Post Graduate school of Nnamdi Azikiwe University

FOOD SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY

Postgraduate Diploma (PGD)

The candidate must be a graduate of Nnamdi Azikiwe University or a recognized University with at least a Third Class degree in Food Science and Technology or allied disciplines or a minimum of lower Credit in Food Science and Technology or Food Science or Food Technology in the Higher National Diploma, HND, from a recognized Institution

Master’s Degree (MSc)

The candidate must have a first degree in Psychology with an FCGPA of not less than 2.5 from Nnamdi Azikiwe University or a recognized University

A candidate with a Postgraduate Diploma in Psychology with an FCGPA of not less than 3.50 may also be admitted provided the University Matriculation requirements are satisfied

Masters Degree MSc, M.EAP in Employee Assistance Programme (EAP)

The candidate must have a first degree in Psychology, Sociology, Guidance and Counselling, Social work, Nursing, Public Health or any allied field of behavioural sciences with an FCGPA of not less than 2.5 from Nnamdi Azikiwe University or a recognized University. Applicants with work experience in strategic human resource management-related professions are also encouraged to apply.

MASTER’S DEGREE PROGRAMME IN ADDICTION INTERVENTION

Two master’s degree qualifications are designed to be obtained in the programme.

1. Master of Science Degree in Addiction Intervention (academic). This is a research-based degree that can lead to a doctoral programme if the candidate meets the final cumulative grade point average of 2.5 on a 5-point scale grading system.

Professional Master’s Degree in Addiction Intervention. This is a terminal degree .

Admission into Master of Science Degree in Addiction Intervention

Admission into the Master of Science Degree in Addiction of Nnamdi Azikiwe University include O’ level credit passes in English language, Mathematics, Biology and any other two subjects obtained from recognized institutions including west African Examinations Council or its equivalent in not more than two sittings.

Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology with a final cumulative grade point average of not less than 2.5 on a 5 point scale grading system obtained from Nnamdi Azikiwe University or any other duly recognized institution.

Admission into Professional Master’s Degree in Addiction Intervention.

Admission requirements into the Professional Master’s Degree in Addiction Intervention of Nnamdi Azikiwe University include O’ level credit passes in English language, Mathematics, Biology and any other two subjects obtained from recognized institutions including West African Examinations Council or its equivalent in not more than two sittings.

Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology, Sociology, Guidance and Counselling, Employee Assistance Programme, Medical Social Work, Nursing, other biomedical or behavioral sciences, Occupational therapy, obtained from Nnamdi Azikiwe University or its recognized equivalent with a final cumulative grade point average of not less than 3.0 on a 5 point scale grading system. Holders of Fellowship of Nigerian College of Psychiatry or its equivalent can be admitted into the programme and other persons in the category

O’level

5 O’ level credits to include English Language, Government/History/Social Studies and 3 other subjects with at least a pass in maths obtained at not more than two sittings.

The candidate must have a first degree in Sociology with an FCGPA of not less than 2.5 from Nnamdi Azikiwe University or a recognized University

Professional Masters in Social Policy (MSP)

Five ‘O’ level credit passes including English Language and any four subjects obtained at not more than two sittings

Professional Masters in Social Policy (MSP)

The candidate must have a first degree in any discipline with an FCGPA of not less than 2.5 from Nnamdi Azikiwe University or a recognized University

A candidate with a Postgraduate Diploma in any discipline with an FCGPA of not less than 3.50 may also be admitted provided the University Matriculation requirements are satisfied

CENTRE FOR MIGRATION STUDIES

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

O/Level (MA, MMS and MSc in Migration Studies)

5 O’ level credits to include English Language, and 4 other subjects obtained at not more than two sittings.

Master’s Degree (Msc and MA in Migration Studies)

The candidate must have a first degree in any relevant discipline with an FCGPA of not less than 2.5 on a 5 point scale from a recognized University

Masters in Migration Studies (MMS)

The Bachelor’s degree requirement for admission into the Master of Migration Studies (MMS) shall be 2.5 FCGPA on a 5 point grading system

2.5 FCGPA on a 5 point grading system or the equivalent in any other grading system plus 5 years post-graduation experience in migration related engagements.

Statement of Motivation

The Candidate shall be required to submit a statement of 350 – 500 words explaining his/her experience/engagement with migration issues/tasks and/or motivation for embarking on the MMS programme.

Center For Occupational Health ,Safety & Environmental Studies(COHSES)

PGD in Occupational Health & Safety(OHS)

The programmes will run in collaboration with the Institute of Safety Professionals of Nigeria (ISPON), and possibly the National Industrial Safety Council of Nigeria (NISCN) as well as an International Certifying body like National Registry of Environmental Professionals (NREP, USA). In addition, the students at COHSE will be positioned to obtain other recognized professional certifications in the course of their selected programme.

For admission into PGD, Candidates who possess a Bachelor’s degree in related courses from a recognized University with Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of less than 2.50 on 5.00 scale will be considered. Also candidates who possess Higher National Diploma (HND) in related fields from a recognized Polytechnic or Institute will be considered

CENTER FOR PEACE AND CONFLICT RESOLUTION

POSTGRADUATE DIPLOMA (PGD) PROGRAMME IN DEVELOPMENT STUDIES

Philosophy

Designed as a preparatory course for those outside the core areas of social sciences and development studies that intend to go for higher degrees in the development studies, the programme is a bridge course for those without the requisite background for direct admission into higher degrees in development studies.

5 O-level to include English Language, Mathematics, and any other three relevant subjects at not more than two sittings.

Graduate of Nnamdi Azikiwe University or any other recognized university with at least a Third Class degree or a minimum of Upper Credit in Higher National Diploma (HND) from a recognized institution.

MASTER OF SCIENCE (M.Sc.) IN DEVELOPMENT STUDIES PROGRAMME

Philosophy

This programme aims at combining an understanding of theory and practice to produce skilled manpower with cutting edge knowledge, critical thinking and leadership skills in an ever changing world. The programme is inspired by the need to fill the gaps faced by developing countries’ unique environment as they work to improve the quality of lives of millions of residents in a highly integrated world.

The candidate must have a first degree in Development Studies, Social Sciences, Management Sciences, Business Administration/Public Administration, with FCGPA of not less than 3.0 from Nnamdi Azikiwe University or a recognized university.

A Candidate with a Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) with an FCGPA of not less than 3.50 may also be admitted provided the university matriculation requirements are satisfied.

Mode of Study of the PhD Progrmme

A study for the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Development Studies shall be by courses work, seminar presentations and comprehensive research to be embodied in a Dissertation.

MASTER OF SCIENCE (M.SC) IN PEACE AND CONFLICT RESOLUTION

Masters in Peace and Conflict Management (MPCM) (Executive)

Admission Requirements

5 O-level to include English Language, Mathematics, and any other three relevant subjects at not more than two sittings.
The candidate must have a first degree in Social Sciences, Management Sciences, Arts, Law, Engineering, etc. with FCGPA of not less than 3.0 from Nnamdi Azikiwe University or a recognized university.

A Candidate with a Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) with an FCGPA of not less than 3.50 may also be admitted provided the university matriculation requirements are satisfied.

INSTITUTE OF ONCOLOGY AND CENTER FOR CANCER RESEARCH

Admission Requirements

O Level

Five credit level passes in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology at not more than 2 sittings.

MSc programs.

For classified degrees ( Basic medical Sciences, Health Sciences and Biological Sciences), a minimum of 2nd class upper degree of Nnamdi Azikiwe University or any other university acceptable by the Senate of Nnamdi Azikiwe University. For unclassified degrees ( Medicine, Pharmacy) a minimum of 60% overall score.

PhD degrees.

Basic Science Option : M.Sc in applicable subjects of Nnamdi Azikiwe University or of any other university acceptable by the Senate with a final CGPA of 3.5 on a 5 point scale or an average of 60%.

Clinical Science Option; An MBBS is required.

CENTER FOR EYE HEALTH RESEARCH AND TRAINING(CEHRAT)

O’Level

Five credit level passes in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology at not more than 2 sittings.

MSc Programme

Bachelor of Medicine, Nursing, Surgery, plus Opthalmic Nursing Diploma with an FCGPA of not less than 2.5 on a 5-Point scale from Nnamdi Azikiwe University or any other university acceptable by the Senate and relevant experience(2years) in eye care
