He made his UEFA Champions League debut five days later in a 1–0 win over Lille, breaking another record previously held by Cristiano Ronaldo by becoming the tournament’s youngest Portuguese player.

On October 20, 2015, at the age of 18 years and 221 days, Neves broke the record for the youngest player to start as captain in the Champions League, guiding Porto to a 2–0 win over Maccabi Tel Aviv in the group stage, surpassing Rafael van der Vaart, who had held the record since September 16, 2003.

Neves joined Wolverhampton Wanderers of the EFL Championship for an unknown sum, thought to be in the region of £15.8 million — a club and league record fee.

In July 2018, Wolves confirmed that Neves had signed a new deal that would keep him at the club until June 2023. He scored his first Premier League goal and assisted Ral Jiménez on his competitive debut in the first match of the new season, as his team recovered from behind twice to draw 2–2 against Everton.

On March 6, 2021, Neves made his 100th Premier League appearance in Wolves’ 0–0 away draw with Aston Villa.
