According to multiple reports, MSNBC has parted ways with host Tiffany Cross. According to three people familiar with the situation, her production staff was informed of the decision Friday morning. MSNBC executives did not respond to requests for comment.

Cross’s contract was not renewed by the network. Tiffany Cross was known for her harsh criticisms of conservatives and rebuttals to statements made by other media figures.

Cross’ weekend time slots will be filled by a rotating cast of guest hosts until a permanent replacement is found. The network’s production team will remain.

Why Did Tiffany Cross Leave MSNBC?

According to two of these people, Cross’ relationship with MSNBC was fraying, with network executives growing concerned about the anchor’s willingness to address statements made by cable-news hosts on other networks and indulging in commentary that executives felt did not meet the standards of MSNBC or NBC News.

Tiffany Cross reacted to her dismissal from MSNBC saying,

“I am disheartened to learn of MSNBC’s decision to cancel my show, ‘The Cross Connection,’ at such a crucial time — four days before the midterm elections,” Cross said, while spotlighting the program’s ratings. “And we were intentional about centering marginalized voices of the rising majority — from all communities of color.”
