Elizabeth Jean Busy Philipps, 43, was detained by police today after showing up to protest outside the Supreme Court.

The energetic campaigner cheerfully accepted her detention and participated in the Roe v. Wade overturn protest with other women’s rights protesters.

The Freaks and Geeks alum has always been vocal about the right to an abortion and has previously disclosed that she underwent the surgery when still a minor. In the wake of Georgia’s six-week abortion ban in 2019, she first aired her abortion tale on her since-cancelled talk show Busy Tonight. Later that year, she went to Capitol Hill to present her story in front of a House Judiciary subcommittee considering the dangers to reproductive rights.

Why Was Busy Phillips Arrested In Front of Supreme Court?

Busy Philipps was arrested and briefly detained while protesting for abortion rights at the Supreme Court premises.

By posting a message on Instagram and stating that she lacks the words to express the judgment’s absolute devastation, Busy Phillips expressed her opposition to the supreme court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade. Due to controversy, the post may have been removed now.

In an Instagram Story posted shortly before she was arrested, Busy Philipps spoke to the camera, telling her followers,

“I’m doing this for you guys. I’m doing this for my kids. I’m doing this for my mom. I’m doing this for my grandma.”

She admitted to having been aborted when she was just 15 years old, and she is already well known for her support of abortion rights.

On June 24, after the Supreme Court decided to overturn Roe v. Wade, millions of women’s rights advocates demonstrated in the streets.

The police had a difficult time keeping the crowd under control as a demonstration took place in front of the Supreme Court today. During the procedure, the impulsive actress was detained for disobeying the law.
