Weruche Opia was born on April 19, 1987, in Nigeria. She is the daughter of Eric Opia, a Nigerian engineer, and Ruth Benamaisia-Opia, a Nigerian broadcast journalist. Weruche grew up in Nigeria but later moved to London, England, with her family.

Weruche always had a passion for performing arts. After completing her primary education, she enrolled at the University of the Arts London, where she earned a degree in Fashion Promotion and Imaging. To further pursue her acting aspirations, Weruche attended the prestigious Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in London, obtaining her master’s degree in acting.

Weruche Opia Career

Weruche Opia made her acting debut in 2011 with a small role in the TV series “Sins of the Father.” She continued to work in television, landing roles in British TV series such as “Top Boy,” “Bad Education,” and “Suspects.” Her breakthrough role came in 2013 when she starred as Cleopatra in the critically acclaimed play “Anthony and Cleopatra” at the Liverpool Playhouse.
