Baby Keem, whose real name is Hykeem Jamaal Carter Jr. and who was born on October 22, 2000, is a stage name he uses professionally. He is an American rapper and record producer.

Following the release of his single “Orange Soda,” which was included on his second mixtape titled “Die for My Bitch,” he first came to widespread public attention (2019). Later on, he would team up with Kanye West to create the song “Praise God,” which debuted in the top 20 of the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the United States and was later awarded the Platinum certification in April of 2022.

His first full-length studio album, titled The Melodic Blue, was issued by pgLang and Columbia Records in September of 2021. On the Billboard 200 album chart, the album debuted at position number five.

The song “Family Ties,” which featured his cousin Kendrick Lamar, vaulted into the top 20 of the Billboard Hot 100 charts to become his second top 20 single overall. The song also won the Grammy Award for Best Rap Performance.

Additionally, the songs “Durag Activity” featuring Travis Scott and “Range Brothers” featuring Lamar were included on the album.

Songwriting and production credits for Keem can be found on a number of different projects, including his cousin Kendrick Lamar’s album Black Panther: The Album, TDE member Jay Rock’s album Redemption, Schoolboy Q’s album Crash Talk, and the song “Nile” from Disney’s The Lion King: The Gift. On Keem’s two mixtapes, The Sound of a Bad Habit (2018) and Die for My Bitch, record producer Cardo was one of the people Keem collaborated with (2019).

In March of 2020, Keem was featured in the visual mission statement for the company pgLang, which is owned by Kendrick Lamar and Dave Free. Baby Keem’s inclusion on XXL’s 2020 Freshman Class was not made public until August of the following year.

Keem made his comeback on September 18, 2020, when he released two new songs: the first was titled “Hooligan,” and the second was titled “Sons & Critics Freestyle.” After that, on March 5, 2021, he issued the record titled “No Sense.”

On April 30, Keem and Travis Scott dropped their collaboration titled “Durag Activity.” The song was succeeded by another collaboration between Keem and his cousin Kendrick Lamar, which was titled “Family Ties,” and it was issued on August 27, 2021.

The Melodic Blue is Keem’s first studio album, and it was released on September 10, 2021. These songs can be found on the album.

Additionally, the album featured the single “Issues,” which Keem performed on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Also included on the album was a collaboration with Don Toliver titled “Cocoa,” as well as tracks “Vent” and “Range Brothers,” which had been teased previously. In addition, Keem was featured alongside Travis Scott on the track “Praise God” from Kanye West’s tenth studio album, Donda, which was released in 2018.

Keem and Kendrick Lamar shared the award for the Grammy for Best Rap Performance for their collaboration on “Family Ties” on April 3, 2022.
