Gaten Matarazzo Teeth; What Disease Does He Have

Matarazzo was born with a condition known as cleidocranial dysplasia (CCD), which he has freely discussed. When he was cast as Dustin Henderson in Stranger Things, the character’s background was changed to reflect the illness. He is a denture wearer. His illness also has an impact on the growth of his teeth and bones.

Gaten Matarazzo Baby Teeth

Fans of the series “Stranger Things” may have observed that Dustin’s front teeth appear to be missing. Bullies mock Justin’s toothless grin in the first episode, but he promptly responds, saying, “his teeth are still growing in.” Gaten has cleidocranial dysplasia, a hereditary condition that impairs the formation of all bones, particularly his teeth and collarbones, in real life. CCD is extremely rare, affecting only one person in a million.

When you have cleidocranial dysplasia, you don’t have a set of baby teeth that fall out and adult teeth that grow in. The Stranger Things star has had three tooth extraction surgeries and also wears an appliance to manually pull his teeth down. In the next years, the illness will necessitate even more procedures.

Who is Gaten Matarazzo

Gaten Matarazzo (born September 8, 2002) is an actor from the United States. He made his Broadway debut in Priscilla, Queen of the Desert and Les Misérables as Benjamin and Gavroche, respectively. He also hosts the Netflix show Prank Encounters and plays Dustin Henderson in the Netflix science-fiction horror drama Stranger Things.

Despite having suffered with such a terrible condition since birth, he was able to secure the most important job of his acting career, making him one of television’s most famous faces.

The Duffer Brothers were so taken with Gaten’s audition tape that they included his illness in the script. Cleidocranial dysplasia was the primary reason he wasn’t getting any significant roles before being cast in Stranger Things.

He would go to auditions three times a week all the time and would always get rejected. It’s incredible that the kid kept applying for new roles despite receiving numerous rejections.

Dustin in Stranger Things

Dustin Henderson, played by Gaten Matarazzo, is one of Stranger Things’ primary characters.

Mike Wheeler, Eleven, Lucas Sinclair, Will Byers, Max Mayfield, and Steve Harrington are his best friends, and he is Suzie’s lover.

Dustin was your average nerd. He did, however, have a rare genetic disease called cleidocranial dysplasia, which prevented his teeth from properly forming.

In the fall of 1983, his life was turned upside down when his best friend Will Byers vanished.

Dustin decided to search the woods for Will with his other best friends, Mike Wheeler and Lucas Sinclair, only to come upon a fascinating girl with a shaved head named Eleven who possessed telekinetic abilities.

In contrast to his other companions, Dustin had a neutral attitude of El, who were more concerned with her abilities than with where she came from and who was after her.

However, the three lads quickly built a deep bond with Eleven, teaching her the value of friendship in exchange for El rescuing him and Mike from school bullies holding Mike and Dustin at knifepoint.

Dustin, Lucas, and Mike eventually reunited with their friend Will, but Eleven vanished while attempting to slay the Demogorgon.

Dustin and Lucas found themselves battling for the favor of a new girl in their class, Max Mayfield, a year later, in the fall of 1984. Despite Mike’s opposition, they invited her to go trick-or-treating with them on Halloween and attempted to integrate her into their Party.

However, Dustin discovered a slug-like monster in his trash on Halloween night, which he dubbed D’Artagnan (Dart for short).

Dustin thought he’d uncovered a new species at first. When he showed it to his pals, they concluded it was an Upside Down creature. Dustin, who had a strong attachment with Dart, kept Dart hidden in his home.

Dart developed into a juvenile demogorgon who ate Dustin’s cat and eventually fled, proving that this was a mistake. Dustin teamed up with Steve Harrington to track down Dart.

Dustin received dating advise from Steve and gradually realized that Max was more romantically attracted to Lucas, while also learning that Dart was a member of an army of demogorgons sent by an evil entity known as the Mind Flayer, who intends to wipe the earth clean. Dustin reconnected with his friends and burned the Mind Flayer’s tunnel system down effectively.

Dustin and his friends went to the Snow Ball a month later. Dustin’s invitation to dance with them was first turned down by all of the girls. Dustin regained his confidence when Nancy Wheeler invited him to dance with her.

Dustin returns to Hawkins in the summer of 1985, following a month at camp where he spent his time building devices with his love, Suzie.

He tries to reach Suzie via the radio they invented together, Cerebro, but instead intercepts something far more mysterious, which irritates him.

Following that, he asked Steve, as well as Steve’s coworker Robin Buckley and Lucas’s younger sister Erica, to assist him in delivering the message.

They discovered the Russians were in Hawkins, working on opening another Gate beneath Starcourt Mall, thanks to the message. Dustin rejoined with his friends after escaping the Russian base and assisted them in defeating the Mind Flayer once more.

Suzie provided Dustin with Planck’s Constant, which Joyce Byers and Jim Hopper required in order to destroy the Russian machine and close the gate. Dustin said his goodbyes to Will and Eleven three months later as they left Hawkins. Erica receives Will’s Dungeons & Dragons set from him and Lucas.

Dustin’s long-distance romance with Suzie is still going strong in the spring of 1986, and he’s now a member of the Dungeons & Dragons organization, Hellfire Club, along with Lucas and Mike.

Mike and Dustin are subjected to the club’s Dungeon Master, Eddie’s, tirades and demands as a result of their loyalty to the club.
