Rapper Mystikal was detained in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, on suspicion of first-degree rape, felony domestic abuse by strangling, among other crimes.

After local police had spoken with a person who claimed they had been the victim of a sexual assault at a nearby hospital, the 51-year-old, actual name Michael Tyler, was taken into custody on Sunday night.

Tyler, who had a worldwide success with Shake Ya Ass in 2000 and was nominated for two Grammys as a result, was given a six-year term in 2004 after being found guilty of extortion and sexual assault. According to the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office, the rapper was arrested on Sunday about 12:50 p.m. Around 9.21 a.m. on the same day, he allegedly committed the five claimed charges.

According to the Sheriff’s Office’s Inmate Detail Query, the 51-year-old rapper, also known as Michael Lawrence Tyler, is presently waiting to be arraigned and has not yet posted bond. The five offenses consisted of three felonies and two misdemeanors.

The Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office’s official record of the arrest states that the bail amount has not yet been determined. The day that Tyler would appear before the court has also not been set, in addition.

Rapper Mystikal Arrest; Why Rapper Was Arrested?

He was given a six-year prison term at the time. In 2012, two years after his release, Michael Tyler, a now-registered sex offender, was found guilty once more on counts of domestic abuse against his then-partner and given a 90-day prison sentence.

After being arrested on a misdemeanor domestic violence charge in 2012, Tyler was sentenced to three months in jail. Tyler’s lawyer later described the incident as a “unfortunate episode” between two domestic partners “who have cared for one other for 10 years.” His two children’s mother was the victim.

In an April 2021 interview with the Associated Press, Tyler discussed changing his life and approaching music differently.

Mystikal was detained in August 2017 on suspicion of second-degree kidnapping and first-degree rape. A $3 million bond was used to hold him. He was charged with sexual assault in a casino in Shreveport.

Up till 2019, the rapper served 18 months in the Caddo Correctional Facility. The rapper was first charged, but the accusations were later withdrawn due to a lack of evidence.

Tarantula, the rapper’s final studio album, was released in 2001.

Mystikal is expected to serve another prison sentence given that he was found guilty in Louisiana, the state with the highest incidence of incarceration in the USA.
