Who is Suzanne Newlander?

Suzanne Newlander is a psychotherapist and amateur actress who is best known to be the wife of Alan Arkin. They got married in 1996. Her husband Alan Arkin was previously married twice.

Arkin married Suzanne Newlander in 1996. Outside of being known as Arkin’s wife, Newlander had a career as a psychotherapist. In 2004, she also tried her hand at acting, starring in a short film titled Blood (Thinner Than Water), written and directed by her husband, Alan. The couple led a quiet life in California, choosing to avoid discussions on politics or the state of the environment, as stated by Alan in 2020.

Prior to his marriage with Newlander, Arkin was married to actress Barbara Dana from 1964 to 1994. Dana had a successful Hollywood career and starred in films such as Inspector Clouseau (1968), Fire Sale (1977), and The In-Laws (1979). She and Arkin had a son together, Anthony Arkin. After Arkin’s passing, some reports suggested that Barbara Dana had also passed away, although no official confirmation was found.

Alan Arkin’s first wife, whom he married in 1955, is reportedly a retired nurse. The couple had two children together, Adam and Matthew Arkin, before divorcing in 1961. Not much more is known about her.
