Chinese official media stated that Chinese Eastern Airlines aircraft MU5735, a Boeing 737-800, crashed on a hill in Guangxi province while flying a domestic route from Kunming to Guangzhou.

According to reports, rescue personnel were near the crash scene, which was fire, but the number of casualties was unknown.

The cause of the crash was unknown.

The aircraft lost communication above Wuzhou, according to the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC).

On board were 123 passengers and nine crew members.

The route traveled by a China Eastern Airlines plane before it crashed on a map of Guangxi province in southern China.

The jet was on its way from Kunming to Guangzhou.

President Xi Jinping of China has called for a “all-out effort” in the rescue operation, as well as proper handling of post-crash procedures and the investigation of any safety threats to ensure comprehensive civil aviation flight safety.

According to the People’s Daily, 117 rescuers have already arrived at the disaster site.

The Guangxi Fire Department has dispatched 650 rescuers from three directions to the scene.

The CAAC said it had dispatched a team of officials, and the Guangxi fire department said it was working to put out a mountainside fire sparked by the collision.

NASA satellite data revealed a large fire in the region where the plane crashed.

According to the FlightRadar24 website, the plane was six years old and took off from Kunming at 1:11 p.m. local time.

At 2:22 p.m., the flight was tracked at a height of 3,225 feet and a speed of 376 knots.

According to the data, whatever went wrong with the plane caused the plane to crash within a minute and a half.

The jet was scheduled to arrive at 3:05 p.m. local time.

Over the last decade, China’s airline industry has had one of the best safety records in the world.

Calls to China Eastern’s offices were not returned promptly. Local police first got calls from residents alerting authorities to the incident at around 2:30 p.m., according to state media.

Boeing, based in Chicago, said it was aware of the crash’s first reports and was “trying to gather more information.” Boeing’s stock fell more than 8% in pre-market trade on Monday morning, local time.

Shanghai-based China Eastern is one of China’s top three airlines, with a network of more than 200 domestic and international services connecting 248 locations.

According to the Aviation Safety Network, China’s last deadly jet accident occurred in 2010, when a Henan Airlines Embraer E-190 regional plane crashed on approach to Yichun airport in bad visibility, killing 44 of the 96 passengers on board.
