Camila Giorgi is an Italian professional tennis player who was born on December 30, 1991. Her career-high singles ranking is No. 26, which she earned on October 22, 2018. She is the current No. 1 tennis player in Italy.

Giorgi made her Grand Slam and main-draw debut in the 2011 Wimbledon Championships, after winning her maiden ITF title in 2009.

In only her second appearance at the 2012 Wimbledon Championships, Giorgi advanced to the fourth round. She debuted in the top-100 of the WTA rankings after a great run at the championships. The next year, she reached the third round of the Wimbledon Championships and reached the fourth round of the US Open, her second Grand Slam. She had made it to her first Grand Slam.

Giorgi made her debut WTA Tour final at the Katowice Open in 2014, then won her first championship at the Rosmalen Open the following year. She defeated former world No. 1 Karolna Plková in the final of the 2021 National Bank Open in Montréal to win her first major championship.

Sergio Giorgi and Claudia Gabriella Fullone, both Argentines of Italian-Jewish origin who immigrated to Italy from La Plata, gave birth to Giorgi in Macerata, Italy.   Her father served in the Falklands War against the British after being drafted in Argentina in 1982, and her mother is a fashion designer. Her father now coaches her full-time, while her mother designs her tennis outfits. She is of Jewish ancestry  and pondered relocating to Israel in 2012, when her father began talks with the Israel Tennis Association (ITA) about the financial implications of her immigration. The Giorgi family was based in the Italian city of Pisa as of September 2013

She started playing when she was five, In 2000, tennis coach Nick Bollettieri offered her seven months of training previously offered only to Maria Sharapova. She reached the final of the Nike Junior Tour in November 2005, but was defeated by Zuzana Luknárová of Slovakia. Giorgi advanced to the final of the Czech Republic’s Sey Development Cup and the round of 16 at the Astrid Bowl in Belgium.

Giorgi began by competing in $10k tournaments, where she achieved her first notable success by reaching the semifinals of two tournaments in Baku and Jakarta. She played in her first $25k tournament towards the end of the season. She finished the year with ten wins and seven defeats, and was ranked 944th in the WTA.

Giorgi’s 2010 season got off to a shaky start, with three first-round losses in the first three months. She made it to the final of a $25k competition in Bratislava in June. During the summer, she competed in a few events in America, where she had relocated (to Miami, with her family), but with mixed success. She was eliminated in the first round of the US Open in August, seeking for the first time to qualify for a Grand Slam tournament. Camila, on the other hand, won a $25k tournament in Rock Hill, South Carolina in October.

in 2011 Giorgi closed the year with 36 wins and 21 defeats, and 149th in the WTA rankings, reaching her best ranking in October when she was No. 141 in the world.

Giorgi pulled off one of her biggest upsets in her career at the US Open, defeating former world No. 1 Caroline Wozniacki in three sets. In the fourth round, she was defeated by  Roberta Vinci.

Giorgi participated in Eastbourne, defeating Victoria Azarenka in the first round before losing in the quarterfinals to Caroline Wozniacki. She was defeated in the second round of Wimbledon by Alison Riske. She advanced to the quarterfinals in Bad Gastein before losing in the first round of the next three competitions. Giorgi had a strong showing in New Haven, defeating Wozniacki (19–4) and Garbie Muguruza before losing in the semifinals against Magdaléna Rybáriková. She was stunned early in the US Open, losing to Anastasia Rodionova, ranked 221 in the world, after serving for the match in the second set.

in 2017 She ended the year ranked No. 79, Giorgi ended the season ranked No. 26 in 2018, ranked No. 98 in 2019, 2020 Giorgi ended the season ranked No. 75, world No.33 in 2021. Following a fourth-round appearance at the 2022 Australian Open, where she lost to top seed and eventual champion Ash Barty, she returned to the top 30 in the rankings on 31 January 2022.
