Jeff Gladney (December 12, 1996 – May 30, 2022) was an American football cornerback who spent two seasons in the National Football League. He attended TCU and was selected in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft by the Minnesota Vikings. Gladney died in an automobile accident just before the start of the 2022 NFL season.
Gladney was a three-star recruit who signed with Texas Christian University (TCU) to play college football on February 5, 2015, after originally committing to the institution on June 6, 2014. Gladney attended New Boston High School in New Boston, Texas, and was a three-star recruit.
North Texas, Northern Illinois, Rice, Texas State, Tulsa, and UTSA all offered Gladney scholarships, but he chose TCU.
Gladney was a four-year starter at Texas Christian University after redshirting his first year due to a torn anterior cruciate ligament suffered during his senior year of high school. Gladney made headlines as a cover corner during his junior season, garnering first team all-Big 12 Conference honors from Pro Football Focus and second team all-Big 12 honors from the coaches. He has five interceptions during his TCU career and was picked to the 2020 Senior Bowl roster after his senior season, as well as being named to the Associated Press’ first team all-Big 12 squad.
Gladney was selected 31st overall in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft by the Minnesota Vikings.
After being charged with domestic abuse, he was released on August 3, 2021. Gladney was found not guilty of the charges leveled against him.
Gladney signed with the Arizona Cardinals on March 16, 2022.
He had a one-year-old son from a prior relationship when he died.
Gladney and his girlfriend were murdered in an automobile accident in Dallas, Texas on May 30, 2022, when they were both 25 years old.
